The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines a rainwater harvesting system as “a technical system that collects rainwater from impervious surfaces and stores it for subsequent use”. The entire process is divided into five stages: rainwater collection via drainage pipes → pollutant interception and first‑flush diversion → water storage in polypropylene rainwater harvesting modules → filtration and disinfection → purification and reuse.
System Classification
1. Based on the source of rainwater, systems are broadly divided into two categories:
Rooftop rainwater
